About this event

Many look to mushroom cultivation to solve a problem of access and yet they gain so much more. The process of growing mushrooms generates far more than a product, it produces a relationship with these sacred beings that deepens the meaning and potency of this experience.

This class will focus primarily on the simplest method of mushroom cultivation for people just getting started. With few essential ingredients the entire process is likely to cost less than $100. No Pressure Cooker Required. The method itself is built off of unmodified monotub Tek’s and Uncle Ben’s Tek’s.

In addition to the method itself, prepare to learn the basic terminology, history, and legality of psilocybin containing mushrooms. As a bonus this class will also start with an overview of common Bay Area psychedelic mushrooms to keep an eye out for.

Bio:

Seth began teaching Mycology in 2016 with focus on gourmet and medicinal mushrooms. After a deluge of requests and personal stories reframed his taboo perspective of psilocybin he began to research and educate on the topic and deepening his own relationship to the mushrooms. The transition timed perfectly with an opportunity to join the SF Psychedelic Society in April 2018. A year later Seth helped to decriminalize(deprioritize) plant based psychedelic compounds (entheogens) in Oakland CA and has continued to educate on a variety of cultivation and harm reduction practices ever since. Seth is the Director of Communications for the SF Psychedelic Society and the Founder of MycoRising.

Legality:

We are privileged to live in a place where we can learn any topic we choose, acting on that knowledge is a different story. Purchasing a ticket to this course is in no way a danger to you and acting on the information for personal use is protected in the cities of Oakland and Santa Cruz CA, the entire state of Oregon, in Denver, CO, Ann Arbor, MI, and Washington D.C.

For people living in any of these areas it is important to still proceed with caution, not to be flamboyant or provocative about the decision to cultivate, possess, or use psilocybin containing fungi. The laws are new and yet to be tested in most places. This topic will be further explored in the class.
